What it saves you on the air
This is the whole reason CW abbreviations exist. Sending TNX instead of spelling out “Thanks” cuts 49% of the airtime — 24 dot-units of keying saved every time you send it.

Meaning
TNX — Thanks
When this is used
One of the most-sent abbreviations on CW. The form TKS is older; modern operators almost always use TNX. Pair with FER ('for') to thank someone for a specific thing: TNX FER CALL.
